Welcome to HCSNet SummerFest 2008!

HCSNet brings together students and researchers from over 20 different academic disciplines to explore how human communication works. HCSNet runs SummerFest — a week-long Summer School and Conference — that’s guaranteed to open doors to research opportunities that you didn’t even know existed. Watch the HCSNet SummerFest video on YouTube!

This year's SummerFest runs from 1st--5th December at UNSW in Sydney, and is an event not to be missed. Here are this year's SummerFest highlights; click on the links or the menu on the left to find out more:

  • A Summer School consisting of eight day-long courses on a wide variety of topics in Human Communication Science, presented by international speakers who are experts in their fields.
  • A 'Meet the Presenter' session where you can chat informally with the Summer School presenters.
  • Skills Sessions: a new component of SummerFest, providing valuable information you can use whether you are an undergraduate, postgraduate, early career researcher or established researcher.
  • The Speed Papers session, where presenters get four minutes to present their ideas, and get heaps of feedback from the audience.
  • Research Workshops: four specialist workshops on a variety of hot topics in human communication science.

And as well as all the above, there's a full program of social events including our annual Conference Dinner on the Wednesday evening and our closing barbecue on the Friday evening.
