The broad range of children’s interactive toys that are available in the market has drawn the attention of researchers in Human Computer Interaction towards children’ interactions with these emergent technologies. There is research that suggests that children’s use of interactive toys in schools and at homes has educational and social benefits. However, the role that interactive toys may have on children’s developing language remains to be explored. I am interested in studying the potential use that computationally enhanced toys may have in promoting children’s language development and in assisting those with delays and/or language impairments.
